Hey guys,

We have at last found a Internet Cafe that allowed us to upload all our images so check out the site.

Good news for Adam as he is up and able again (does a little moaning) but manages to get his mileage in, so Matts happy.

We are in the City of Romance itself 'Verona' having a rest day and checking out the sights.

WOW Team - Matt, Adam, Andy, Clare & Nathan

Hi folks

I am sitting in the lap of the Swiss Alps, at Brig, in bright sunshine. Adam has again taken the train to rest his knee and is sorting out campsites in Strasa.

Yesterday was a day of two halves. I woke in Lusanne to snow and sleet, undeterred I packed the freezing mass of tent and headed south dresssed in all my clothing. Absoloutly baltic sleet, rain and winds challenged me throughout the morning. I stopped in the mist and clag in Montreux where and elderly lady described the normal view of the mountains. At the Southern end of Lake Geneve I took the advice of George Delacombaz (a cycle shop owner in Lusanne) and followed the TCS cycle track through the forests at the valley bottom. Throught the cloud and fog I could sense the mountains bearing down on me. Still freezing, I took a lunchtime stop at the World Cycling Headquaters Velodrome, which filled me with Tea and Chips and dried some of my clothes.

After the stop, the route turned East down the valley to Sion, a complete change, the clouds evaporated, the wind picked up and pushed me down the straight and flat cycle track, snow capped mountains to each side. A really enjoyable afternoon cycling after the misery of the morning. I chose a
campsite just short of Sion, hot showers and a bar, not bad.

This morning I decided to head only as far as Brig and take it easy, in preparation for traversing the mighty (2000m) Simplon Pass on Saturday.

Again I followed the great cycle track through the mountains and vin yards, next to the Rhone river. There are many cyclists out and about, one travelled with me for 5 miles chatting.

Brig is in the heart of German speaking Switzerland so signs and greetings changed throughout the day. I arrived here about 3pm and after a brief wander round the town found that the campsites are closed until May. Wanting to rest before heading over the pass I booked into a cheap B+B. I`m off for
a bit to eat and a good sleep.

Distance: 650 miles

Matt

Hey Guys,

Latest news and pictures from the trip are now on the website, Adam has already had his collar felt by security in London and this afternoon we were flagged down by the local police.
France is great, straight roads and a tail wind.

Cheers

Matt + Adam

Hi all,

Welcome to the first newsletter from WorldOnWheels. There is a great team of
folks gearing up join matt on various legs of the ride, I think its going to
be a lot of fun.

With just 10 days before we leave, things are getting quite hetic. Bikes,
tickets and visa's are all just about sorted with just the packing to do!
Adam and Matt will be setting off on the European leg from Warwick on the
30th March, heading down to london. From there a plane and train will
reunite them in Paris for the real start to the adventures.

Andy Bridgestock, Nathan Hubbard and Clare Brown will be meeting us 2 weeks
later in Northern Italy, so its a fairly relaxed start, building up to the
full daily distance. The route plan is availible on the site.

In terms of communication we are now sorted out with digital cameras so
photos from the road will be availible on the site.
You will also see that the forums have been activated and we can pick up and
answer comments and questions en-route.

More thoughts when I get them

Cheers

Matt
